Dr. Richard R. Viscarello Jr.

Richard R. Viscarello (He/Him) earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physiological psychology and neurobiology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.  He studied for his Master of Science degree in neuroendocrinology at the University of Massachusetts in Boston.  He received his Doctorate of Medicine with honors in anatomy, medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1984. 

 

Dr. Viscarello pursued his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Yale-New Haven Hospital.  Dr. Viscarello completed a Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine.  At the completion of his training, he joined the faculty of Yale University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. 

 

Dr. Viscarello has been a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist in Stamford, Connecticut since 1993.  Dr. Viscarello is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine.  He serves as an Attending Physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Stamford Hospital.  He is President, Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of Maternal Fetal Care, PC in Stamford, Connecticut.  He is also an Clinical Assistant Professor at the Frank Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in New Haven, Connecticut.  He holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University School of Medicine. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Viscarello has been active in numerous professional organizations and has made significant contributions to the field.  He is a member of a variety of professional societies including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, American Medical Association, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.  

Dr. Viscarello has received many honors and accolades including the Irving Friedman, M.D. Award for Outstanding Clinical Abilities awarded by Yale University School of Medicine; the Association of Professors in Obstetrics and Gynecology (APGO) teaching award in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Columbia University School of Medicine; and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Mentor Award; He has been named numerous times both as one of Connecticut’s Best Doctors by Connecticut Magazine and the People’s Choice Award for Best Doctors in Connecticut.

Dr. Viscarello has been a committed investigator and collaborator on research projects that were awarded multi-million dollar grants from the National Institute of Drug Abuse and the National Institutes of Health.  Additionally, he has been the author of more than fifty published manuscripts and book chapters.
